With more than 22 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry, Cody Abston brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for personal and professional development as Training & Skills Coach. Cody’s career has been deeply rooted in craftsmanship, starting with cabinetry work in the early days of his career, even while honing his skills in residential framing at Wadford Construction. Over the years, he further refined his expertise at Hise Woodworks, Gann’s Cabinets, and Anchor Constructors, where he developed a deep appreciation for precision and detail.
In 2019, Cody joined Dow Smith Company as a construction technician. His dedication and adaptability quickly saw him transitioning through roles, from construction tech to foreman and even running projects as a superintendent. Cody successfully led notable projects such as the Packaging Fulfillment Center, Joy Bridge Kids, and the Protein Snack-Shop Freezer Expansion.
His career path took a pivotal turn when he began life coaching within the company—a change that inspired him to focus full-time on training and coaching others. Cody’s unique ability lies in connecting and building trusting relationships. Through humor, direct conversations, and thoughtful challenges, he creates an environment where people feel comfortable and motivated to grow. Known for his no-nonsense approach, Cody believes in holding people accountable, helping them push past excuses to uncover their true potential. He balances his candid style with unwavering support, encouraging others to step outside their comfort zones and achieve meaningful progress.
Outside of work, Cody’s creative energy shines. He enjoys playing music—whether on drums, guitar, or piano—attending sporting events, and experiencing live music. Cody’s professional yet personable approach ensures that every individual he works with feels supported, challenged, and empowered to grow, personally and professionally.
